I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

Housed within George Washington’s College of Professional Studies (CPS) and founded in 1987, GW’s Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM) is the first and foremost school of applied politics, communications, and advocacy, offering master’s degrees in the following disciplines: Legislative Affairs, Political Management, Strategic Public Relations, and Political Communication and Strategic Governance. GSPM is seeking a full-time Education Program Coordinator. The primary focus of this position is to enhance the academic experience for students and faculty of the Political Communication and Strategic Governance (PCSG) Master’s Program (taught online in Spanish). Key responsibilities include: administering programs, supporting and training faculty on technical components of the educational platform (Blackboard), and providing academic and career advising. The Education Program Coordinator position reports to the Director of Academic Administration. This position does not have direct reports.

Key responsibilities include:

Serve as the primary point of contact for students in the program, ensuring seamless communication of student-related issues. Manage the on-boarding of new students to include counseling students on university programs, policies and regulations. Handle special requests from students.

Manage the admissions process by assisting in recruitment, monitoring marketing services, tracking and following up on applicants’ progress. Respond to applicants’ questions and concerns, follow up on incomplete applications and provide detailed information. Provides admission related statistics to the director and team.

Provide academic advising to students to promote successful completion of the program. Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of student records, transcripts, and files.

Oversee the course registration process each semester and provide academic support to students in the PCSG program. Maintain records in Banner and ensure students’ academic progress is logged. Monitor degree progress and work with the Director of Academic Administration to clear students for graduation.

Recommend policy and procedural changes to improve the quality of the admissions process and day-to-¬day functioning of the office. Assist in the evaluation of the program through course observation, tracking student performance and in consultation with participants. Provide input in identifying strategies for program improvement.

Assist in developing and implementing the PCSG marketing plan. Travel to special events for promotion and recruitment. Responsible for the promotion and advertisement of the university brand and values, as well as the PCSG program through market analysis and communications. Manage contract with digital marketing firm. Work with client in the development or refinement of client marketing (web, print, multimedia) strategies.

Execute and coordinate all departmental events and working with colleagues to develop a strategic and comprehensive calendar of events.

Support the professors (e.g., train new professors on BlackBoard), help them to manage tools for online and face-to-face courses, and coordinate to solve any technical issues. Support the Center for Political Management with occasional seminars or workshops (e.g., CAF, Navarra, DC seminars, etc.), which also benefit the PCSG program.

Keep and maintain all related records of the PCSG program (e.g., syllabus, number of students, goals, etc.). Ensure the website is up-to-date with accurate and useful information available to the students. Process related payments. Manage marketing budget

Assist with orientation programs for new students, graduation and other student service related events.

Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Fluent in Spanish preferred.

Superior customer service, attention to detail, strong organization skills, excellent writing and verbal communications and computer skills (Excel and Powerpoint).

Experience in a higher education environment is preferred.

Experience in sales/recruitment, marketing, or program management.

Familiarity with CRM databases and application software (preference for Salesforce and Target X), and online educational platforms (e.g., Blackboard) preferred.
