Job Description Summary:

GW’s Department of Pharmacology & Physiology is an active research department, with federally funded programs in neuroscience and development, cardiovascular pharmacology and physiology, genomics, carcinogenesis and molecular oncology. Dr. Colonnese’s Laboratory of Systems Neural Development studies the development of sensory systems in the brain.

A Senior Research Assistant position is available in the Laboratory of Systems Neural Development in the Department of Pharmacology & Physiology. Technical or scientific requirements of the position include experience with multi-electrode recording techniques in the visual cortex of neonatal and juvenile mice and analysis of neural activity using Matlab and Klustakwik. In addition, the successful candidate must have experience in surgical techniques in small rodents and complete animal care training.

Duties include:
Performance of surgery on neonatal rodents, animal monitoring, extra-cellular recording from mice in vivo, and, computer-aided analysis of data, presentation of data in written and auditory formats to local and international audiences.
This position performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
