Job Description Summary:

ColonialTemps is hiring a temporary Television Studio Operations and Lighting Technician. The candidate will perform various set up and technical operations as required for television studio productions of both academic and professional clients. These duties include: physical set up and teardown of sets and furnishings; designing studio lighting, programming the lighting control board, setting dimmer levels and physically moving lights into position on the overhead grid; setting up audio mics on the set and talent; acting as Floor Manager; running TV studio cameras; and operating control room equipment such as the video switcher (TD), the character graphics generator(CG operator), the audio mixer(audio engineer), the teleprompter and the REC/PB server system. They will coordinate closely with faculty and engineering management for scheduling and to ensure appropriate technical maintenance and upkeep of sets and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

- A minimum of 2 years of experience doing multi-camera studio lighting and hands on control room operations.

- Working knowledge of/ experience with current professional industry digital standards, principles, measurement and test equipment used for basic set up and operation of studio and control room equipment and A/V media presentation.

- Excellent organization, planning, interpersonal and communication skills, service orientation and ability to work as part of a team.

- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

- Ability to work a flexible full time schedule with occasional nights or weekends. No travel or overtime is required.

Candidates must have the ability to:

- Move equipment such as monitors, TVs, computers, overhead projectors, printers, etc.

- Be able to move, bend, crawl, stand, and work in small spaces, in order to install equipment in racks and under consoles.

- Be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

- Be able to work above head from a ladder or lift to move and hang lighting instruments.

- Be able to discern colors in relation to wiring and for digital monitors, projected displays and camera set up for matching and trouble shooting.
