Job Description Summary:

The School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) is seeking an energetic individual who can play a key operational and strategic role in accomplishing the priorities of the school by working closely with senior leadership and SMHS units to advise on and provide oversight for operations and organizational activities.

This position is responsible for developing strategic alignment between SMHS units and the school’s overarching strategic goals and initiatives.

An incumbent in this role will coordinate and evaluate strategic planning in concert with school senior leadership.and will assist in the development of long-term goals and objectives; evaluation of programs and initiatives against those goals and objectives; and assistance with tactical planning, including internal communications to accomplish the objectives.

Primary responsibilities include:

Strategic Planning

Support the SMHS Strategic Plan by providing oversight of school planning functions pertaining to SMHS Administration and Operations and by collaborating with the school Finance leadership on related issues.

Coordinate with SMHS units to develop integrated and aligned business plans.

Ensure cohesive focus and direction and sound program management and performance agenda.

Work in collaboration with functional leadership to accomplish unit objectives and operations within SMHS Administration and Operations and other units as determined by school senior leadership.

Provide oversight to ensure goals, strategy and policies are clearly communicated to the SMHS community to achieve desired results.

Program Evaluation

Manage the production and coordination of internal and external reports, briefings, and informational papers to communicate program and project objectives, metrics and outcomes.

Direct the development of data and provision subject matter experts to inform program and project evaluation.

Analyze proposals referred to senior leadership for review, approval or decision.

Project Management

Develop and direct the strategic planning of multiple SMHS projects as identified by senior leadership.

Oversee coordination of personnel and resources required to successfully complete projects.

Provide centralized management of SMHS projects and initiatives, ensuring the School leverages its project selection and execution success.

Participate on task forces and project teams, providing technical advice and support for requirements analysis and long, mid, and short-range planning.

Participate in the preparation and review of internal budget justifications.

Organizational Effectiveness

Collaborates with Human Resources Director on Organizational Effectiveness initiatives as appropriate including:

Providing leadership and guidance in the principles of process improvements and re-engineering and stimulating culture of continuous improvement.

Efficient allocation of SMHS resources or other topics or special projects as assigned.

Driving change through architecture, standards, policy, budget, performance management, and governance.

Guiding organizational change management by influencing, motivating and persuading individuals and groups to accept opinions and take actions related to advancing SMHS goals using highly developed communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 8 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 6 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
