Job Description Summary:

We are seeking an Applications Administrator for the Office of Human Research (OHR) at the George Washington University on the Foggy Bottom campus in Washington, DC. This position reports to the Director, OHR. This position supports front line operations as well as being the primary administrator of iMedRIS system for GW’s OHR. This position will work with IT and the vendor to implement the electronic system. The incumbent will provide didactic presentations and training, including preparation of educational materials and hands-on-skill development to system users and manage the help desk. In addition, the Applications Administrator, OHR serves as the first point of contact for OHR.

Responsibilities include:

• Independently performs system administration duties. Responds to inquiries regarding the system, provides help desk support and assistance to the GW community and OHR staff in the operational use of the application and system. Works directly with iMedRIS vendor resolve technical issues. Provides support for the computer environment including testing, troubleshooting, documenting software application and performing quality analysis. Works with DIT and the vendor to provide occasional after hours support for system installation, upgrades, patches, and outages.

• Provides educational outreach and training to the GW community on the electronic compliance system and trains OHR staff on the use of the system.

• Represents GW OHR at various events and meetings that may impact the electronic system. Works with various stakeholders including DIT and the outside vendor to insure a smooth transition from a paper based to electronic system. Assists in planning and managing the integration and implementation of the new technology. Provides strategic input and hands-on technical oversight throughout all project phases. Coordinates with partner departments, project managers, technical operations personnel, clients and DIT stakeholders on administration of third party interfaces. Prepares custom reports at regularly scheduled intervals to meet University needs for data analyses and data analytics.

• Supports the effective and efficient operation of the OHR including triage of all incoming protocols. Assists investigators and members of the research team in understanding approval requirements of the IRB and communicating additional information as needed. Ensures completeness of IRB submission packet and triages to next level of review. Prepares and distributes IRB letters to investigators concerning committee decisions and/or stipulations pertaining to proposed research studies. Disseminates notices to investigators and research staff for annual continuing reviews, study expiration, and administrative closures.

• Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Ability to write statistical reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, researchers, and the general public.
• Demonstrated ability to provide didactic presentations and training, including preparation of educational materials and hands-on skill development.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to keep records and make reports.
• Knowledge of SQL, scripting, databases, spreadsheets, and access control technologies.
• Knowledge of physical security standards.
• Experience in customer service environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Technically adept and ability to manage multi-range projects.
