Job Description Summary:

It is the academic mission of the George Washington University’s School of Business (GWSB) to be a preeminent business school recognized for scholarly research, teaching excellence, innovative curricula and focused on the responsible management of organizations in the global environment. In support of this mission, the F. David Fowler Career Center is searching for a Graduate Career Consultant. This individual is a key contributor in providing high quality career coaching and career management education to graduate students within the School of Business.

The position reports to the Director, Graduate Career Management. This position does not have direct reports but may schedule, train and supervise temporary staff or student workers.

The primary focus of this position is to provide career counseling and career management education to graduate business school students and graduate business school alumni to help them become market- and employer-ready.

The key responsibilities include:

Provide career counseling to GWSB graduate students and graduate alumni including assessment of student/alumni goals and interests, resume review, interview preparation, networking techniques, self-branding and effective job/internship search tactics to ensure market- and employer-readiness.

Plays an integral role in the design, delivery and management of career and professional development programs, seminars and sessions (online and in-person) to educate students on our career management methodology.

Assists with the collection and reporting of statistics on graduate student employment outcomes.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional experience with industry expertise in at least one of the following areas: Consulting, Financial Services, International Business, International Development, Technology, Energy, Government, Non Profit and Executive Outplacement and function specific areas (Consulting, Financial Services, Marketing, Operations, Human Capital, Accounting etc.).

MBA preferred, but not required.

Previous career and/or executive level business coaching highly desired.

Familiarity with international cultures highly desired.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and customer service skills.
