Position Description Summary:

The Department of Pathology at the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates, the independent, non-profit faculty clinical practice group affiliated with the George Washington University, is seeking a surgical pathologist with interests in pulmonary/thoracic pathology and general surgical pathology. This non-tenure track faculty appointment will be made at a rank (Instructor/Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) and salary commensurate with experience.

Our growing medical center, with a modern, state-of-the-art hospital and expanding Cancer Center, is located in the heart of the nation’s capital. An increasing surgical pathology volume, with particular growth in pulmonary and other thoracic cases, provides opportunities to sign out both neoplastic and non-neoplastic pulmonary/thoracic cases, as well as cases in other areas of surgical pathology, and to conduct clinical and translational research in collaboration with surgeons, oncologists, pulmonologists, and other clinicians and basic investigators.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include providing clinical service; teaching residents, fellows, and medical students; and developing an active research program.

Minimum Qualifications:

MD or equivalent; Board-certified or Board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the time of appointment; eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia; and a demonstrated interest and/or special training in pulmonary/thoracic pathology.
