Job Description Summary:

The Center for Cyber and Homeland Security (CCHS) at the George Washington University is a nonpartisan “think and do” tank whose mission is to carry out policy-relevant research and analysis on homeland security, counterterrorism, and cybersecurity issues. By convening domestic and international policymakers and practitioners at all levels of government, the private and non-profit sectors, and academia, CCHS develops innovative strategies to address and confront current and future threats.

CCHS was established in early 2015 and integrates the activities and personnel of the Homeland Security Policy Institute (HSPI) and the GW Cybersecurity Initiative.

In addition to assisting the Director in driving the research and policy activities of the Center, the Center Administrator will provide strategic grant and administrative support to the Center Director, and manage the day-to-day operations of the Center and growing portfolio of federal, private and corporate grants. Essential job duties include:

Assists Director in driving the research and policy initiatives of the Center. Provides support in analysis and strategy development.

Translates and operationalizes the Center’s objectives ensuring team comprehension. Manages short-term and long-term planning of Center activities in alignment with university goals.
Manages daily operations and the administrative requirements of the Center, including finance and personnel oversight. Recruits, hires and trains support staff in consultation with the Director.

Coordinates and executes workshops, conferences & symposia, webinars and other outreach activities and events.

Assists the director in coordinating activities with the board of directors and senior fellows.

Manages relationships with partners and donors with regards to contracts (grants and corporate membership), financial reporting and budgeting. Assists the director with background research for meetings with donors and helps identify additional revenue sources.

Administers financial aspects of the Center to include reimbursements, grants, contracts, invoices and assisting the director with budget development and oversight. Ensures compliance with federal regulations, Department/University guidelines, and sponsor requirements, including IRB submission.

Manages the Center’s website and maximizes social media efforts.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Experience in database record maintenance
• Strong oral and written skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Interest in or experience with cyber and/or homeland security strategy and program development
• Experience in gift processing
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, Drupal and email
• Available for weekend, night and daytime event program management
