Position Description Summary:

The George Washington University English Department invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Fiction for a three-year renewable contract beginning as early as Fall 2018. The successful candidate will join a thriving Creative Writing program.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will teach in our all-undergraduate Creative Writing program; may teach literature courses, including in the graduate program; will advise students and perform other departmental and university service and will continue to publish at a high level.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must hold an MFA or PhD in English or closely-related field by date of appointment and must have one book of fiction published or under contract. Applicants must be fiction writers and have a secondary interest in one (or more) of the following fields: creative non-fiction, film and media studies, children’s literature, Jewish literature, ethnic literatures and studies, or postcolonialism.

Advertised Salary: Salary will be commensurate with experience.
