Job Description Summary:

The School of Medicine and Health Sciences at the George Washington University is currently seeking a Director of Development for the Department of Development and Alumni Relations. The Director of Development is responsible for overseeing development activities for the Department of Surgery and at least one other clinical service.
Responsibilities Include:

Identifies departmental priorities, builds a written case for support and development plans, motivates faculty to participate actively, and meets with funder prospects in order to achieve fundraising goals

Develops effective relationships with medical faculty and department chairs in order to advance the mission of the department, Medical Center, and University

Manages relationships in a portfolio of at least 72-125 major gifts prospects rated for gifts of $50,000 or more while working within the University research and prospect management system.

Achieves goals for visits, solicitations, and dollars raised as approved by Executive Director, of Development and Alumni Relations, in collaboration with Associate Vice President, Development & Alumni Relations

Collaborates with colleagues across the Medical Center and University to achieve closure of comprehensive gift strategies

Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
