Position Description Summary:

The Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering of The George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science is seeking candidates for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor.

The George Washington University is located in the center of Washington, D.C. The metropolitan area sustains the second largest concentration of research and development activity in the United States, creating a continuing demand for rigorously trained engineers and many research opportunities. In addition, Washington DC is a center for the practice of Systems Engineering, creating a strong atmosphere for qualified students and a successful research programs in Systems Engineering.

Faculty will be responsible for teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level and for developing a strong sponsored research program in one of the focus area for the Department. Current focus areas Crisis, Emergency, and Risk Management; Economics Finance and Cost Engineering; Engineering and Technology Management; Environmental and Energy Management; Knowledge and Information Management; Operations Research and Management Science; and Systems Engineering and Integration.

Salary levels are competitive.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Faculty will be responsible for teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level and for developing a strong sponsored research program in one of the focus area for the Department. Current focus areas Crisis, Emergency, and Risk Management; Economics Finance and Cost Engineering; Engineering and Technology Management; Environmental and Energy Management; Knowledge and Information Management; Operations Research and Management Science; and Systems Engineering and Integration.

Minimum Qualifications:

All applicants must have an earned doctorate in or be in the final stages of completing their doctorate in Systems Engineering or a related field. ABD candidates will be considered but must complete all degree requirements for the doctorate by the date of the appointment.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential for superior teaching and for attracting externally funded research.
