I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

Job Description Summary:

The George Washington University, Department of Surgery is currently hiring for the position of Research and Office Assistant. Incumbent must be very knowledgeable of computers with a high proficiency in Microsoft Office – especially Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel; Adobe Photoshop; and EndNote/Reference Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: experimental work; animal husbandry; mentoring; overall lab work -including placing orders and assisting with the preparation of manuscripts and grants, organizing the visiting professor series. Required: A minimum of a B.A. in Science or related field; a minimum of two years experience in either a laboratory or research institution; and excellent written/verbal communication and computer skills. Incumbent must be highly motivated, very organized, and have excellent proofreading and editing skills. Knowledge of the following techniques preferred, but not required: Cell Culture; Immunohistochemistry; Genotypic Analysis; DNA, RNA, Protein Extraction; PCR; Confocal Microscopy; Animal colony maintenance and breeding; Animal handling—including tail clipping, and ear tagging.

Minimum Qualifications:

Require’s a master’s degree and 3 years of direct experience in the field.
